Tkachuk Nets Twice, Swayman Stops 38 in 5-1 Victory

In a thrilling start to their second-round series, the Boston Bruins grabbed a 1-0 lead over the Florida Panthers with a convincing 5-1 victory in Game 1 on Thursday night at TD Garden.

Matthew Tkachuk continued his impressive postseason with a pair of goals, including the game-tying tally midway through the third period. Eetu Luostarinen then delivered the eventual game-winner with just 5:38 remaining, giving the Bruins the lead for good.

Jeremy Swayman was outstanding in net for Boston, stopping 38 of 39 shots faced. The 23-year-old netminder made several big saves, including a sprawling stop on Aleksander Barkov in the second period that kept the game tied at 1-1.

The Bruins also got goals from David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand, while Charlie McAvoy added two assists. For the Panthers, Sam Reinhart scored the lone goal.

Game 2 of the series is set for Saturday night in Boston before moving to Sunrise, Florida for Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Wednesday.
