Serbia Denounces Kurti's "Ethno-Nationalist Provocation"

TIRANË (24 October 2023) — The Albanian Constitutional Court has accepted the Democratic Party's lawsuit challenging the legality of the Academy of Sciences law. The law, passed by parliament last month, has been criticized by the opposition as unconstitutional and politically motivated.

In a separate development, the Pristina Basic Court has ordered one month's pretrial detention for a Serbian man suspected of attacking a KFOR soldier. The incident, which occurred last week, has raised tensions between Kosovo and Serbia.

Meanwhile, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić has condemned Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's recent statements as "ethno-nationalist provocation." Kurti had called for the establishment of a "Greater Albania," which Đurić said was a threat to regional stability.
