In response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the United States is accelerating the delivery of NASAMS air defense systems to the country's armed forces. This advanced system will significantly strengthen Ukraine's ability to defend itself against aerial attacks, providing a critical advantage in the fight against Russian aggression.
NASAMS (National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems) is a state-of-the-art air defense system designed to intercept and destroy aircraft, drones, and other aerial threats. The system uses a sophisticated radar to detect incoming targets and can launch multiple missiles simultaneously to engage threats.
The White House National Security Council recently awarded a $1.2 billion contract to Raytheon Technologies Co. for six NASAMS batteries. The first two batteries have already been delivered to Ukraine, with additional shipments expected in the coming months.
