Madrid, Spain - April 26, 2022
In a pulsating UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg, Real Madrid produced a remarkable comeback to defeat Manchester City 6-5 on aggregate and reach the final.
Trailing 4-3 from the first leg, City struck first through Riyad Mahrez in the 73rd minute. However, Rodrygo scored twice in quick succession in the 90th and 91st minutes to level the tie and force extra time.
In the extra period, Karim Benzema converted a penalty in the 95th minute to complete the comeback and secure Real Madrid's place in the final in Paris.
Real Madrid's victory was a testament to their resilience and determination. Despite falling behind twice in the tie, they never gave up and eventually prevailed in dramatic fashion.
Manchester City, who were bidding to reach their second consecutive Champions League final, will be left to rue their missed chances. They had several opportunities to kill the tie off but failed to do so, allowing Real Madrid back into the game.
Real Madrid will now face Liverpool in the Champions League final on May 28. It will be a rematch of the 2018 final, which Real Madrid won 3-1.
