Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde suffers injury in downhill race

Norwegian skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde has been injured in a downhill race in Wengen, Switzerland.

The accident occurred on Saturday, January 14, 2024, when Kilde lost control and crashed into the safety nets. He was airlifted to a hospital in Bern, where he is being treated for a knee injury.

Kilde is one of the world's top downhill skiers and is a favorite to win a medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. He has won two World Cup races this season and is currently ranked second in the overall standings.

The extent of Kilde's injury is not yet known, but it is believed that he will miss the rest of the season. This is a major blow to the Norwegian ski team, which is looking to defend its title at the World Championships in Courchevel-Méribel, France, in February.

Kilde is expected to make a full recovery and return to racing next season. He is a determined and resilient athlete, and he will be back stronger than ever before.
